I haven't posted in awhile. Been busy on Facebook and Twitter (neither of which are satisfying experiences at this point). They do allow you to get a point out there but it is not always understood. I vowed to try to post only "positive" comments - but usually lose it when confronted with the constant "fake comments" or "spins" from the GOP. Folks, I'm a flaming liberal and if that is bothersome, then you best move on to something more to your liking.
Been thinking about 2020 (mucho!). Some thoughts, random and not fully vetted but out of my marginal brain, but my thoughts only! Hopefully it starts intelligent, interesting, positive and enlightening comments!
1. President/Vice President: (following an anything but tRump (here within: that man) theme, I have sworn to vote for, donate to, work for, spread the word about whoever the people of the amazing country decide to run against that man).
-Biden (inevitable?)/Harris (Biden quits after one term)
or
-Harris/Buttigieg or Castro
or
-Warren/Booker or Castro
or
-Sanders/Harris
Personally I'm not fond of Bernie and Warren, as organized and (I have a plan) as she is. They may both be too far left. America, on either side, is generally in the middle (except for the Kool-Aid drinkers in the GOP. I applaud all that Bernie and Liz want to do, but think we have to work in steps, deciding which investments are needed most (climate change?)(tax reform-reverse the GOP plan and increase cuts for the middle and low income Americans?)(Election reform?) and, first, where we get the money (Tax reform). (separating the possibilities / not in any order)
-Speaker of the house: Adam Schiff (full stop)
-Senate Majority leader: Warner/Blumenthal/Brown/ (which ever is available)
-Secretary of State: Barack Obama (yes you have given Barack, but we need someone like you to mend the wounds caused by that man)
-Defense: Kaine/Blumenthal/Gillibrand/Moulton
-Energy: Kennedy/
-Attorney General: Harris/Swalwell/Bennet (whichever is available)
-Treasury: Warren (full stop)
-UN Ambassador: Buttigieg/McFaul/Kennedy
-WH Chief of Staff: Porter
All of this has to ensure that we do not lose seats in either the Senate or the House so forward strategy has to be important.
Again, if you want to have conversation please respond. Disagreements are good, without being disagreeable!
Cheers and Happy Friday

Thoughts on a hot and quiet Sunday
Republidiocy: The state of the Republican Party as more and more conservative, fundamental white men (except for the woman and the black guy and a couple of Latinos), continue to promote a fundamentalist way of life in America (no gays, traditional marriage, no right to choose, women in the kitchen having children, racism, no immigration reform, a gun or two or three for everyone, etc.). In the Mid-East this group is called ISIS or ISIL.
Guns: The Constitution guaranteed the right to bear Muskets, not weapons of war. We need gun control in America and we need it now.
Trump: A new game of "Guess who's behind the Hair today?" Fun for all and if you are having a bad hair day, wear a baseball cap.
Closeted gays: Come out, come out, wherever you are!
Taking back the Country: A phrase often used by Republican Conservatives. I assume that they think Progressives have stolen the country? We haven't! It actually belongs to ALL Americans and I believe the Progressive thieves are willing to actually share it with you - whether they agree with your views or not.
Christian Beliefs: I'm lost here. Most of the Christian Fundamentalists quote the bible (generally old testament) and not the teachings of Jesus. I won't list all of his incredible (and progressive) teachings, but all you hellfire types should read more of his quotes and less of the really old white guys in the old testament.
Undocumented Immigrants: We have 12 million (give or take) "illegals" in this country. Many have had children here (who are US Citizens) and most are working and contributing to the success of America. Many are doing jobs that "entitled" Americans wouldn't consider doing. There needs to be Immigration reform, allowing these contributing Americans to be fully integrated into our society (pay taxes, contribute to Social Security, Medicare, etc.). It would solve many of our economic problems.
Pot: Legalize it, tax it, license it, control the quality and stop putting people in Jail for having small quantities of it.
Prostitution: Legalize it, license it, tax it and have it come under health restrictions and exams.
Age: A number that continually challenges us to stay ahead of the aging curve. A difficult task. Age gracefully and die peacefully.
Friendship: A difficult commodity that is not always truthful, not always fair. Something to be appreciated in small or large numbers. Understanding who truly loves and cares about you is not always easy but rewarding to those who figure it out.
Socio-Capitalism: The true answer as to how the great America should work and be run.
There is so much more wandering the reaches of my brain, but this is enough for now.
Peace, joy and love,
ed

Dear Mr. President, Members of the Senate, Members of Congress and the American people.
What is wrong with all of you in Government? Here is a simple step by step job description for you to follow:
1. Keep the Government running
•Pass a clean CR and re-open the Government
•Raise the debt ceiling without fail - cleanly, without extortion
2. Meet together and with COMPROMISE pass a budget that is fair to all Americans, understands that the rich can pay a bit more and the poor deserve more than being kicked off the bus
3. Work on and solve the Immigration problem, being considerate of the 12 million or so human beings that have been here, contribute to our society and deserve a path to citizenship
4. Work together on our Education System and make the necessary improvements that will guarantee our children will reside in the greatest country ever and be able to earn a living due to their education. Everyone should get an equal chance at getting the best education this country can offer.
5. Put people to work again - fix our ailing infrastructure before this whole place crumbles
6. Do something constructive about Climate Change - stop calling it a lie - it is true
7. MAKE OUR GOVERNMENT WORK - MAKE IT WORK DAMMIT!
If you truly care about the American people and future generations, stop the ideology, stop being so self-serving, stop the political maneuvering and DO YOUR JOB
If you don't want to do your job, step aside and let someone who cares do it!
...add ons for the rest of us
1. Forget that our President, elected by a majority, is Black and show him the respect you would expect if you were in that office
2. Remember that God (or whatever you might call him in your chosen religion) is our creator and come from the word Love - not hate, not prejudice, not anger, not war, not anything but Love - try to be more God-like and less like we humans seem to have learned to be
3. Rethink your positions on life and learn to be more inclusive of all humans, animals and plants - love all that is on this planet, while you have the PRIVILEGE of living on it
Thanks for listening:

BankofAmerica is forcing us to short-sell our home for $405,000. It is worth $475,000 to $500,000 but they probably will get a government subsidy for the loss (we owe about $455,000). Even Zillow has it estimated at $430,453 - without considering the improvements we made. It could be a good deal for someone to flip and make a bit of cash - think about it.
It was a joyous space that provided us many great times - and now someone else will get to enjoy all that good karma!

Today in America
Great State of the Union speech last night - but I am still going to lose my home (BofA shortsale) and I still cannot find a job - too old and apparently useless when over 65 - merde!
I've worked so hard for 55 years and now I am considered useless - not a great place to be.

Since all middle class Americans are having to tighten their belt, are having difficulty finding jobs, are having their homes threatened (mortgage or under water value) - it is time to have both the Senate and the House of Representatives tighten their belts - especially since they are NOT DOING THEIR JOBS and continue to have so much time off.
Let's start petitions to have the Congress of the US take salary cuts.
Let's start petitions to have the Congress of the US have Medical Benefits like the rest of us.
Let's start petitions to change the Pension structure (lifetime pensions for one term - really?) of the Congress of the US.
They don't want to sit down and COMPROMISE because they are afraid of their base supporters. This nation is being held hostage because of "THREATS" by the extremes on both the right and the left. It is time to stop this.
Proposals for the Senate and House of Representatives:
•Salaries commensurate with age and experience
•Term limits (4 if they do their job, 2 if they don't)
•Ability for the entire US population to try to impeach/fire any member of congress with the appropriate number of signatures (vote by the entire population to impeach)
•Benefits similar the the average benefits for ALL AMERICANS
•Pensions based on years served (2 years served, 2 years of pension)
•Performance reviews by the constituents at election time
•Vacations based more on the average vacations enjoyed by all Americans
The Congress of the United States (both houses) needs DRAMATIC overhauling.
They waste our tax money, do not do their jobs, take too much time off, misuse their positions (how many start as average Americans and wind up Millionaires? )
REFORM CONGRESS NOW - MAKE THEM WORK FOR US AND NOT JUST FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR OWN BANK ACCOUNTS!
