Thoughts on a hot and quiet Sunday
Republidiocy: The state of the Republican Party as more and more conservative, fundamental white men (except for the woman and the black guy and a couple of Latinos), continue to promote a fundamentalist way of life in America (no gays, traditional marriage, no right to choose, women in the kitchen having children, racism, no immigration reform, a gun or two or three for everyone, etc.). In the Mid-East this group is called ISIS or ISIL.
Guns: The Constitution guaranteed the right to bear Muskets, not weapons of war. We need gun control in America and we need it now.
Trump: A new game of "Guess who's behind the Hair today?" Fun for all and if you are having a bad hair day, wear a baseball cap.
Closeted gays: Come out, come out, wherever you are!
Taking back the Country: A phrase often used by Republican Conservatives. I assume that they think Progressives have stolen the country? We haven't! It actually belongs to ALL Americans and I believe the Progressive thieves are willing to actually share it with you - whether they agree with your views or not.
Christian Beliefs: I'm lost here. Most of the Christian Fundamentalists quote the bible (generally old testament) and not the teachings of Jesus. I won't list all of his incredible (and progressive) teachings, but all you hellfire types should read more of his quotes and less of the really old white guys in the old testament.
Undocumented Immigrants: We have 12 million (give or take) "illegals" in this country. Many have had children here (who are US Citizens) and most are working and contributing to the success of America. Many are doing jobs that "entitled" Americans wouldn't consider doing. There needs to be Immigration reform, allowing these contributing Americans to be fully integrated into our society (pay taxes, contribute to Social Security, Medicare, etc.). It would solve many of our economic problems.
Pot: Legalize it, tax it, license it, control the quality and stop putting people in Jail for having small quantities of it.
Prostitution: Legalize it, license it, tax it and have it come under health restrictions and exams.
Age: A number that continually challenges us to stay ahead of the aging curve. A difficult task. Age gracefully and die peacefully.
Friendship: A difficult commodity that is not always truthful, not always fair. Something to be appreciated in small or large numbers. Understanding who truly loves and cares about you is not always easy but rewarding to those who figure it out.
Socio-Capitalism: The true answer as to how the great America should work and be run.
There is so much more wandering the reaches of my brain, but this is enough for now.
Peace, joy and love,
ed
